I’m David Perez, the photographer behind YC Photography. My work is rooted in observation, shaped by the rhythm of the street and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed. I’m drawn to honest expression, natural light, and the spaces between movement and stillness, where real stories reveal themselves without direction or pretense.
Photography, for me, is an act of presence. It is about seeing people as they are and preserving the emotion that exists within a fleeting moment. Influenced by street photography and documentary storytelling, I approach portraiture with patience and intention, allowing personality and environment to coexist naturally within the frame.
Based in Southern California, I create images that live beyond the moment they were taken. My goal is not simply to document how something looked, but to capture the feeling that remains long after it has passed.
The Process:
My work moves between portraiture and documentary storytelling, shaped by a street photography perspective that values authenticity over perfection. Whether photographing a wedding, a graduation, a family milestone, or a quiet portrait, my focus remains the same. I look for real moments, natural connection, and the emotion that exists between posed expectations.
Each session is approached with intention rather than a formula. Some stories unfold during major life celebrations, others in quiet everyday moments, but all are photographed with the same goal: to create images that feel honest, timeless, and personal to the people in front of the lens.
