Chasing Light
Some shoots mean a little more because of who is standing in front of the camera. This one was for a longtime friend of mine who had recently gotten married, and it was good seeing him genuinely happy alongside his new wife. I met her for the first time during this shoot, and she turned out to be every bit as kind as he had described. We spent the afternoon moving between Riverside and Redlands, starting under heavy clouds before eventually finding ourselves chasing patches of sunlight as the sky opened up and gave us the kind of light every photographer hopes for.
My friend has always been someone I’ve counted on for honesty. He tells it like it is, and with him, you always know where you stand. Since I first picked up a camera, he has been one of the people I’ve trusted for real feedback about my photography. Watching him begin this new chapter of life felt meaningful, and I hope their daughter grows up seeing the good person I’ve always known him to be. It was truly an honor to capture these moments for them.
The cover photo and final two images in this set were captured by my daughter, who often tags along during shoots and has developed a great eye for candid moments. While I was posing and directing the session, she caught a few honest, in-between moments that felt worth sharing.
